On April 1, 2020, Skiff was founded to build completely private yet uncompromisingly simple products. Today, three years later, we’re blown away by our community’s support, excited by product adoption, and determined to build even better products ahead.

In 2020 and 2021, Skiff had a minimal online presence and was focused on delivering our first product - Skiff Pages.

Skiff Pages was built to be a modern, private collaboration product. As our lives become increasingly digital, privacy has become scarce, and every existing collaboration product lacked end-to-end encryption or collected a copious amount of data about users.

Skiff Pages was built to be different and better: End-to-end encrypted, completely private, and designed in the model of new and more flexible team collaboration products - with subpages, powerful tables, and shortcuts and markdown for power users.

Today, hundreds of thousands of people have used Skiff Pages to write notes, organize their team workspaces, and share public documents or wikis.

2022 was a big year for Skiff, as we launched 

 at the end of the year. We also launched 

 for each Skiff product, going from a web-only interface to the intuitive and ubiquitous native interfaces on iOS and Android. Today, Skiff Mail has over 

Towards the end of 2022, we launched Skiff Calendar, bringing private schedules, meetings, and video events to all Skiff users. Revamped Skiff 

 - Essential, Pro, and Business - have enabled businesses from 5 to 500 people to use Skiff effectively for their organization.

New Skiff Mail features were also launched, including custom domains, remote content blocking, and easy import from other mail providers.

2023 has already been a big year for Skiff. With Skiff 

 released, and new features for businesses and teams (catch-all aliases, domain purchasing, and more), we’ve seen accelerating adoption and enthusiasm for a privacy-first workspace.

Skiff is a privacy-first workspace with Mail, Calendar, Drive, and Pages app built for individuals, families, and teams to collaborate and communicate privately. Inviting members to your Skiff workspace enables you to share a custom domain, drive files, and teams for collaborating on wikis or documents.

The Admin Panel is a single page to manage invites, users, and aliases for your team. Add members to your workspace with any email address; configure their aliases at any of your custom domains; manage new and departing team members with a single click.

Thousands of teams already use Skiff to share teams, wikis, files, documents, and more. With the new admin page, teams use becomes even more powerful, particularly for large organizations, even up to hundreds of individuals. The Admin page is accessible to every user, including Free users.

Can you remove or add team members on the Admin page?

Yes - you can add email addresses to receive a unique invitation link. New team members will need to create a unique account for use inside your workspace.

Can you set multiple custom domain addresses?

Yes. Any user in your workspace can have an unlimited number of addresses at your workspace custom domains.

You can use the Admin Panel on Free, Pro, and Business plans; however, Free and Pro workspaces are still limited to six users per workspace.

of their privacy marks a fundamental shift in how we build and use technology. Today, privacy is not an optional feature. New policies, technical models, and consumer expectations change the way products are built. Skiff is building an ecosystem of privacy-first, end-to-end encrypted products for collaboration - from the ground up, surrounded by a team of advisers and investors who dream about this future with us.

Today, we’re so excited to announce our $4.1m seed round, led by Sequoia Capital. Our advisers have been involved in critical steps as we’ve built and launched Skiff’s collaboration product, from developing Skiff’s open-source roadmap to sharing new technical methods for performing scalable end-to-end encryption. Going forward, we expect our advisory board to be involved in major product, team, and security decisions.

We’ve set out to make privacy accessible to everyone.

In the past year, individuals and teams have spent more time working together online, distributed around the world. The need for products that protect what we share and say is more important than ever.

Online collaboration is limited today because few platforms offer both security

usability. Until now, several challenges have stymied progress:

 Consumers must greatly sacrifice convenience to use privacy-first alternatives.

 Existing platforms add security features only once they’ve reached scale.

 Big tech companies have lost consumer trust on privacy.

At Skiff, we’re solving these problems by building a truly private platform for collaboration alongside leaders in security and design. In the past year, we’ve published 

 on a model for scalable, end-to-end encrypted products, brought on Zak Blacher as our Director of Security and Aaron Marks as our Head of Strategy, and released our privacy-first platform for document creation, editing, and sharing via groups.
